An emission factor is the amount of greenhouse gas released per kilo (or other unit) of a material, for example kilos of CO2e per kilo of cocoa beans from Ghana. Multiply it by how much you buy and you get that material's emissions.
That is what the Emissions predictor is for. You enter the material and where it comes from, and it estimates the emission factor from similar materials, the country and how the material is made. Every estimate comes with a confidence score.
A life cycle assessment adds up the emissions of a product across its life: growing or extracting the raw materials, processing, packaging and transport. Automated LCA builds one from a plain description of your product, with reports aligned with ISO 14040.
