Unibloom Data · Emissions predictor

Early access

An emission factor for any material.

Tell us the material and where it comes from. The Emissions predictor estimates its emission factor, even when no database has one, with a confidence score so you know how far to trust it.

Emissions predictor: enter a material and its origin to get an emission factor

How it works

  1. Tell us the material and where it is from.

Start typing, or begin from an example such as cocoa beans from Ghana or crude soybean oil from Brazil.

  2. We calculate it.

The estimate uses published and openly licensed emission-factor data together with what drives emissions: the material type, the geography, the life-cycle stage and the physical emission drivers.

  3. Use the result to guide your next question.

Start the supplier conversation with a consistent number, and see where asking for real data matters most.

Emissions predictor: questions people ask

What is an emission factor?

An emission factor is the amount of greenhouse gas released per kilo (or other unit) of a material, for example kilos of CO2e per kilo of cocoa beans from Ghana. Multiply it by how much you buy and you get that material's emissions.

How does the Emissions predictor estimate a missing emission factor?

The Emissions predictor combines established life-cycle assessment methods with predictive modelling. Its models use published and openly licensed emission-factor data together with the material type, the geography, the life-cycle stage and the physical emission drivers. The result comes with a confidence score, and its sources and assumptions stay traceable.

How far can I trust an estimated emission factor?

Every estimate from the Emissions predictor comes with a confidence score and is labelled as an estimate, so you know how far to trust it. Use it to decide and to start the supplier conversation, and replace it with supplier data as soon as that arrives.

When should I use Automated LCA instead of the Emissions predictor?

Use Automated LCA when you can describe how the product is made and want the full picture: it builds the complete life cycle assessment (LCA), stage by stage, with a report aligned with ISO 14040. The Emissions predictor is the faster route for a single missing emission factor.
